Amid the stand-off between University Grants Commission (UGC) and DU, HT asked its readers who they thought was responsible for the mess that cast a pall of uncertainty over the admission process in the current academic session.

The options were: DU, University Grants Commission (UGC), Government/HRD Ministry or all/none of them all. Altogether 2,699 respondents voted till 4pm on Friday in the poll published on Thursday morning.

Of the total respondents, 1,041 (39%) voted against the university. The Government/HRD Ministry followed DU, as 591 (22%) of the respondents blamed it for the mess. The UGC stood third, with 367 (13%) of the total respondents voting against the regulatory body.

Interestingly, close to 25% of the respondents believed that all three authorities were responsible for the controversy, with the option receiving 657 votes.

Finally, DU scrapped the controversial FYUP on Friday, reverting to the three-year degree format and paving the way for the commencement of the stalled admission process.

While 20-odd respondents (1%) opted for the 'None of the Above' option, an equal number of respondents could not give any certain answer.
