To upgrade the level of sanitation in the city, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) is mulling to procure machines to clean, collect and dump garbage or malba. Till now, the streets are cleaned by workers.
With this, the civic body aims to replace manual cleaning of roads and thus improve efficiency in work.
A senior Huda official said a machine costs R30 lakh and can clean a stretch of 15 km in one hour. Besides, it is equipped with a dumper to carry six tonnes waste and will dispose it at the designated site, outside the city limit. The official further said the machine would clean roads in the early morning hours.
“All roads in the city will be dust-free. The machine can
dispose of 6 tonnes waste at one point of time,” he added.
Huda administrator Praveen Kumar, whose office is flooded with complaints from residents on poor sanitation in all sectors, has sought the opinion of two estate officers (EOs) in this regard.
Kumar had held a meeting with the EOs last week and asked them to prepare a plan in consultation with a company, which had given a demonstration of the machine, on the MG road in April.

{{/usCountry}}“We need to see how many machines are required to carry out cleaning work in all sectors under Huda’s jurisdiction. We also need to know how many workers are required in the machine-mode cleaning system against the current manual mode,” said the administrator.
