The Hurriyat Conference on Saturday demanded that the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakot roads be opened for trade even as the Separatists' Coordination Committee will meet tomorrow to decide on the future course of action to end the "economic blockade."
Chairman of moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umer Farooq listed opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, withdrawal of troops from the valley and revocation of "black laws" as the three steps to restore peace in the region.
Addressing a gathering at the fourth day ceremony of slain Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz, he said the Committee would decide on measures to end the economic blockade imposed by Sri Amarnath Sangrash Samiti.
The committee, an amalgam of both factions of Hurriyat Conference, JKLF led by Mohammad Yasin Malik, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Jamiat-e-Ahli Hadees, traders federation, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and employees unions would march to the office of United Nations military observers group for India and Pakistan at Sonawar on Monday.
Mirwaiz said access to Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir for trade was the chief demand of citizens.
