She lived to tell the tale of her husband's betrayal, despite being 'strangulated' and left for dead in the jungles of Muradnagar.
Pooja Jatav, 20, married her cousin, Ravindra Jatav, around two years ago. On Sunday night, her husband and his two accomplices allegedly strangulated her and left her at in Muradnagar, presuming her to be dead.
On Monday morning, a watchman from the area saw her and alerted the police that he had spotted a 'dead-body' in the neighbouring fields. Police officials rushed her to the ITS Medical College in Muradnagar for treatment, where the victim related the entire incident. On the basis of her statements, police conducted raids at Chilaura area of Meerut and nabbed her husband Ravindra Jatav, a law graduate, and his accomplice Jogendra Kumar. The third accused, Raj Kumar, is still at large.
Ravindra told police on Monday that he and Pooja had a love marriage in Meerut in October 2010.
"I imparted coaching to students (including girls). Pooja objected strongly and told me not to teach girls. I was very upset at her intervention," he said. "I took her to Muradnagar for some treatment (on Sunday). There, three of us strangulated her and fled the spot," Ravindra added.
"The victim is still critical. Doctors say that the best possible treatment is being given to her," senior superintendent of police Raghubir Lal said.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, Pooja revealed that Ravindra took her to Meerut from Loni, never married her and 'murdered' her, as he wanted to marry someone else.
