Asked at a press conference if she would change her mind on the subject, Gandhi replied: "My position is the same, my position is not going to change. The Congress party candidate for prime minister is Manmohan Singh. What more can I say?"

For good measure, she added that Manmohan Singh would be the prime minister "for the full (five-year) term".
