'I have the luxury of being choosy'
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan speaks about his new film Chak De and his return to the small screen.india Updated: Dec 05, 2006 16:25 IST
It’s true that one can’t get enough of King Khan and that too in just three minutes, but that is all he could spare. Too much, isn’t it? But then beggars can’t be choosers and as Shah Rukh Khan believes and follows too — it is all about time management. A test of wits and the time begins now...
Sporting a new look:
Well, that’s fine but where to begin from? Perhaps his next film Chak De and his shooting schedule in Australia.
SRK says, “It was hectic and lonely. Lonely because it was hard to stay away from my family for 30 days.”
Truly, family comes first. But why hectic? “It’s not easy to shoot a sports film. It was a back-breaking task.” And the strain seems to have taken its toll.

“I hurt my leg during the shoot.” But the Don isn’t complaining. “I have always believed that I am a sportsman at heart. Moreover, shooting with a team of eleven girls was taxing but an enjoyable experience.”
Adding to that, SRK says, “
presents a true picture of the state of women’s hockey. And I hope to do my bit for the game through this film.”
Back to basics:
Time is ticking away and moving on to the next big question, his return to the small screen as a quizmaster, and he says, “At this stage of my career, I have the liberty and luxury of being choosy. I did
because I grew up watching that film and today if I am hosting
Kaun Banega Crorepati
, it is just because of Amitabh Bachchan’s association with the show.”
And last but not the least, SRK accepts that his experiment with varied characters is in sync with the changing demography of Indian cinema.
“Today, films are being made by young directors for viewers who are young too. So, if my role requires flying in the air, I would do it without any second thoughts,” says SRK, concluding the short ’n’ sweet chat.
