The four-day expo, to be held from October 13, will offer a wide variety of handsets and schemes to choose from.

The event will also showcase the entire mobile phone lineage, right from the first handset to the latest one.

"The event will lure over 2,50,000 people, which will further boost the mobile handset industry that has already grown over a 100 times in the last five years", said ICA national president Pankaj Mohindroo.

"The industry was worth just Rs 200 crore in 2001, and now it weighs well over Rs 20,000 crore", he added.

"Over the last decade, mobile phones have transcended barriers and are now an intricate part of our lifestyles. We hope to further this achievement through this event", said Mobile Asia 2006 co-chairman Sunil Dutt.
