CHIEF JUSTICE of MP High Court, Anant Kumar Patnaik said that the world would have been a worse place if the ideals and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi were not held relevant today. He said this while unveiling a statue of Mahatma Gandhi on district court premises here on Sunday. Former Chief Justice of India R C Lahoti was the chief guest at the programme.
Justice Shivraj V Patil, Chairman of National Human Rights commission, Justice D M Dharmadhikari, Chairman, MP State Human Rights Commission and Ramesh Neekhra, president of MP Bar Council and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Justice Patnaik said that disputes should be resolved through dialogue in an amicable manner as violence couldn’t solve any problem.
Mahatma Gandhi’s ideal of non-violence is everlasting. He stressed the need of bringing justice and truth together adding that the statue of Gandhiji could inspire to work in that direction. He said everyone involved in legal system must respect the sanctity and morality of the court.
Justice R C Lahoti, while remembering Gandhiji, said while delivering justice we must listen to our inner voice and ensure that the poor are not denied justice as they are helpless. He said the ideals of Gandhiji were respected across the globe and would be relevant for generations to come.
