IIIT-A moves up in IT education ranking

IT’S ANOTHER feather in the cap of Allahabad’s Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-A). The Deemed University has outranked other biggies like Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) and Jadavpur University in the field of Information Technology education.

As per the latest issue of the reputed magazine of technology and science-Dataquest- the IIIT-A has jumped from 19th place to 11th leaving behind reputed institutions like MNNIT, Delhi College of Engineering, Jadavpur University and Thapar University. A joint survey of Technical institutions was conducted by Dataquest and IDC recently. The survey covered 100 top institutions of India including IITs, NITs, IIITs and other technical universities.
The survey was conducted taking into consideration parameters like placement, infrastructure, academic environment, industry interface, institute response and HR response.
The complete score card that emerged after the survey of 100 institutions unequivocally sounded the emergence of a new giant-IIITA as top 11 technical institutions of the country with an overall score of 60.9.
The IIIT-A has managed to score 31.1 against the placement parameter that is much better than the score of institutions like IIIT-Hyderabad. The other prominent aspects were great response as per infrastructure, institute response and the upward trends. Expressing joy over the great ranking, director of IIIT-A, Dr Murli Dhar Tiwari said the improvement in the ranking of the institution was the outcome of selfless service and efforts of the faculty members, staff and of course students. Dr Tiwari further said, “We have been trying to place IIIT-A as foremost institution of the country and in this regard several steps are being taken to improve infrastructure, academic environment and other facilities even further.”
It may be mentioned that IIIT-A has recently registered 100 per cent placement which included job offers by top IT MNCs.
Dr Tiwari informed that 12 per cent students of BTech of the Institute managed to get international scholarships of $30-32,000 from universities like Stanford, California, Buffalo and Maryland of USA. “The students have also succeeded in management fields and are enrolled at the top IIMs,” informed Dr Murli Dhar Tiwari.
