The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) is entering into a partnership with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for conducting management accounting research in the country.

The two premier institutes will jointly establish a National Centre for Management Accounting at the IIM-C campus. A Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU) between the two institutes will be signed in a month.

Confirming the development, Ashok Banerjee, professor of finance and control, IIM-C said, “The intention is to do research in management accounting in Indian corporate world. We will analyse financial statements of different companies and try to find out the level of corporate governance. The proposed centre will also arrange international conferences in management accounting.”

The centre will also introduce short duration educational programme in management accounting next year. “Successful candidates will be awarded certificates jointly by IIM-C and CIMA. However, the details of the programmes are yet to be worked out,” he added.

He, however made it clear that the programmes would be offered to the working executives.
