The idea of the meet is to bring together IITians from the entire Southeast Asia region and provide a platform for academics-industrialists interaction.

"This is a great opportunity to introduce to Singapore and the region one of the most recognised talent pools in the world. It is an opportunity for IIT Alumni and the IITs themselves to explore the vast advantages offered by Singapore in terms of alliances and networking potential that such an event brings about," said Devashish Datta, president of the IIT Alumni Association, Singapore.

The IITs have been ranked third in the Times Higher Education Supplement's list of best technology universities last year.

"The conference would focus mainly on the collaboration between the institutes and the industry, with emphasis on Singapore-based companies," Amrit Barman, the media coordinator for the event was quoted as saying.
