AS PART of a nationwide health awareness campaign, the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) would soon be equipped with tele-medicine education system.

Director of IMS-BHU, Prof Gajendra Singh said the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) would connect selected medical institutes to available education centres in selected regions across the country to generate health awareness among common people.
He said the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry had launched this project under the distant learning programme to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas and keep the rural populace abreast of the advancements in the field of health. He said IMS-BHU had been made nodal centre. Prof Singh said doctors of rural areas could contact their counterparts in urban areas and discuss various health related complications through this system.
