The rocks were painted black and the word China has been erased and ‘India’ has been written there in bold letters.

This information was conveyed to Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla by Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, who returned to his headquarters after three-day-long visit to the place.

Bhalla told HT over phone that the Deputy Commissioner has reported to him that Chinese had written “China” on the rocks falling in between two streams Nilinga and Chiding near Demchok, 370 km from Leh.

The minister had been monitoring the situation ever since it came to the attention of the nation that China had done this misadventure..

“Now those rocks have been painted black. The word China is erased. Instead, India has been written on the rocks in bold letters,” Bhalla said.

The logic behind doing all this is to erase the impression that the writing of word “China” by the Chinese troops, in any manner amounted to the control of territory by them.

Earlier, the writing on the rocks had evoked widespread concern across the country.
