Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel have been deployed in the Tatarpur area along the NH-24 here after a 43-year-old man was burnt alive on Saturday morning.
The man was killed over an altercation, the police said.
A farm-owner from Tatarpur, Viresh Singh fought with the victim, Ashok Valmiki after his animal's trespassed into Singh's farmhouse on Friday evening, the police said.
"They had a heated exchange and later on Friday evening Valmiki came to Masoori police station and tried to lodge a complaint against Singh for his alleged misbehaviour," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said.
Still furious, Valmiki, along with his son Joginder, and brothers Sanjay and Bobby, allegedly entered Singh's farmhouse on Saturday at around 4 a.m., where Singh was asleep. The five men allegedly poured kerosone over Singh and set him afire and fled, the SSP said.
The victim's wife, Veero, said she saw the men fleeing when she was bringing tea for her husband. "The men were trying to flee from the room and had kerosene cans with them. When I reached the room, it was locked from outside and smoke coming out of it. I called the neighbours to help my husband," she said.
Yogender Singh, the victim's son, said that his father received about 90 per cent burn injuries and was taken to police station and later to MMG district hospital, where he was declared dead. Several hours later, the police caught Valmiki and his two brothers. However, his son and father Sukh Pal Valmiki managed to escape.
