"One girl child has died in the accident," local MLA Shankar Lal Sharma said. "Hema has injuries above her eyes, on her back and legs. I drove her to the hospital in my car. She was in pain," he added.

The impact killed the two-year-old girl in the other car and injured three co-passengers and the driver, who were also taken to hospital.

Malini, an MP from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, was travelling to Jaipur in her Mercedes car while the other vehicle involved in the mishap was going to Lalsoth from Jaipur.

Television visuals showed the damaged front end of the MP's car and the actor holding a bloodied handkerchief as her forehead bled.
