Chanting anti-Governor, anti-Ghulam Nabi Azad government and anti-PDP slogans, activists and leaders of the Samiti, a conglomeration of 35 outfits, also took out a rally in the city.

Staging the sit-in, they demanded immediate restoration of the land to the Amarnath Shrine Board and removal of the Governor.

The amalgam launched an anti-Vohra signature campaign in Jammu today but suspended its call for a shutdown in the region for a week.

The signatures would be sent to the President, a Samiti spokesman said.

"If our demands are not met within seven days, we will enforce the shutdown in the region again," he said.
