Independent candidate escapes terrorist attack in J&K
An independent candidate from Anantnag parliamentary constituency Ramesh Kumar escaped unhurt when terrorists opened fire on his motorcade.
An independent candidate from Anantnag parliamentary constituency Ramesh Kumar on Saturday escaped unhurt when terrorists opened fire on his motorcade in Kulgam area of south Kashmir, official sources said.
Terrorists opened fire on the cavalcade of Kumar at village Brazloo around 3 pm while he was campaigning in the area, the sources said.
While Kumar escaped unhurt a policeman in his escort vehicle suffered minor injury. the vehicle was slightly damaged in the attack, they said.
Anantnag parliamentary constituency is going to poll in the fourth phase of elections on May 5.
Elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir, a woman was killed in Badgam district, a school building gutted in Doda district and security forces busted four hideouts seizing explosives and weapons including 6.7 RDX and a 15 kg IED.
