India looking to turn the tables on Caribbeans

The visitors have a very strong chance of winning the Test series to end its 35-yr victory drought in WI, writes Harsha Saparia.

India head into their forthcoming tour of the West Indies as favourites to win the series. Skipper Rahul Dravid in a recent press conference described how during the previous tours pundits labelled them as front-runners and how India failed to return home victorious.

"The West Indies are a difficult team to beat at home. We need to play really well if we have to win the series," said Dravid. "People said the same thing during our last two tours, that we had a great chance. I think they will be a very good and competitive team."

India have not won a single series in the Caribbean since the historic 1-0 triumph under Ajit Wadekar in 1971. Their previous two visits in 1997 and 2002 resulted in a 1-0 and 2-1 drubbing.

But this time around, the equation has reversed and the visitors have a very strong chance of wrapping up the series on a winning note to end the country's 35-year Test series victory drought in the Caribbean.
