Top army officials from India and Pakistan on Tuesday discussed the volatile situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border in Jammu and Kashmir over the hotline, amid continuing ceasefire violations by the neighbouring army.

Officials from the directorates general of military operations (DGMO) of the two countries spoke over the hotline.

The two DGMOs speak on phone every Tuesday. An additional DGMO from the Indian Army is understood to have registered protest with the Pakistani DGMO over the stepped up border violations during the last two weeks. Ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces were reported in the Poonch sector on Tuesday.

Defence minister Arun Jaitley had last week warned Pakistan that it would have to pay a heavy price for its unprovoked acts of aggression along the LoC and the international border.
