India required less than six overs in the morning session to complete the rout as Bangladesh, trailing by 342 runs, were all out for 202 in their second innings after resuming at 170-8.

This was Bangladesh's 19th defeat by an innings margin and 30th overall in 33 matches since they gained Test status in 2000. The remaining three Tests, two against Zimbabwe and one against the West Indies, were drawn.

India just had to complete a formality on the fourth morning after having outplayed the Test minnows on the first three days, finishing the job in less than 30 minutes.

Left-arm paceman Pathan proved too hot to handle for Bangladesh in both the innings on a flat track as he finished the match with 11-96, including his first six-wicket haul in nine matches.
