"Out of this convention will emerge a new strategy leading to enhanced political effectiveness of the Indian American community through various programmes of the organisation," Ravi Sakhuja, president-Elect of IAFPE, said.

The annual convention of IAFPE is attended by members of various state chapters as also by several well-known American and Indian American political and community leaders, and college interns from across the United States.

"We plan to be issue focused but also develop strategies which will make us effective with the mainstream American community," Sakhuja said.

The day long convention will have informative and interactive workshops and lectures by speakers including Indian American young adults. Congressmen James McGovern and Barney Frank, and Alan Khazei, founder of City Year, will be the keynote speakers.
