Priyadarshi Thakur, secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, has been elected as the Director General of International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises.

The appointment is for a period of four years with effect from October 1, 2006, an official release said.

India is a founder member of the ICPE, which is situated in Slovenia, the release said, adding an Indian nominee has been elected to this post after a gap of four years.
ICPE has been mandated to promote enterprise development in developing and transitional economies with a view to fostering economic development in regional and global context.
