Indian firm to help Bhutan in dairy development
Tetra Pak India has announced the commissioning of the first ultra heat treatment (UHT) milk plant in Phuentsholing in Bhutan, which will help the Himalayan nation meet its own milk needs.
Till now, Bhutan was importing milk from India to meet its requirements, the company said in a statement.
The UHT milk plant would help Bhutan meet its own needs and also export to the North-east of India where there was a shortage, it said.
The opening of the UHT plant would increase the demand for locally produced raw milk and was the first step in the dairy development sector of Bhutan, it said.
