Till now, Bhutan was importing milk from India to meet its requirements, the company said in a statement.

The UHT milk plant would help Bhutan meet its own needs and also export to the North-east of India where there was a shortage, it said.

The opening of the UHT plant would increase the demand for locally produced raw milk and was the first step in the dairy development sector of Bhutan, it said.
