Ace golfer Jyoti Randhawa believes that the day is not far when an Indian would win a major.
"Indian golf has been on a rise in the last 5 years. There are so many youngsters coming up and I feel in 5-10 years' time, we could have an India winning world championship and a major," Randhawa said.
"Indian golf never had so good, we have so many talented players and India is on the right track," said Randhawa, who is leaving tomorrow for the American Express World Golf Championship starting from September 25.
"We do not get much sports facilities in India. There is lack of training and infrastructure compared to European and US tour, which are far more technologically advanced. But with the IT boom and corporate assistance coming up, things are changing and information about the sport is also there," he said.
Randhawa was speaking after unveiling the trophy for this year's McDowell's Club Golf Championship beginning on September 30.
Randhawa, who is playing in the European Tour for the first year, said it had been a learning experience for him.
"I had a mediocre year. It's my first year in Europe and it has been a learning experience for me. It will take some time to acclimatise to the weather. I am looking forward to the coming year."
