The 43-year old man, who was not identified, was reported to the police by an Indian mechanic who gave him 550 Bahraini dinar for a visa that never materialised.

The conman duped the mechanic into handing over the cash after giving him a copy of a visa, the CPR (Central Population Registry) card of his new sponsor and his company's Commercial Registration.

"Later on I came to know that these copies are of no value and the defendant actually sold the employment visa to another man," the victim was quoted as saying by Gulf Daily News.

The court sentenced the fraudster to one month in jail after he failed to show up at the hearing on Monday.
