An ardent Indian fan of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan showed off his
kung fu
skills at a prestigious television contest for foreigners, winning a prize.
Dilip Giridhar Chaudhari, who is teaching English at a university in Shanxi province won the third prize at a contest for foreigners to display their talents in Chinese art and culture, telecast by Beijing Television (BTV) this week to mark the country's Lunar New Year which was celebrated on January 29.
The programme, Arts from Our Land shown on BTV had some 40 contestants in the final level from different countries.
In the programme, foreigners from different country performed Chinese arts like calligraphy, singing, dancing, Peking opera, drama, Chinese martial arts, cross-talk, Chaudhari said.
"With the help of this performance the contestants show their great love to China and friendship between two countries. And I was very fortunate to grasp this golden opportunity," Chaudhari, hailing from Ahmednagar city in Maharashtra, said.
"I have been in China for more than three years. I have been working in North University of China as a foreign language teacher. Since I'm pretty passionate about Chinese arts and culture, in my spare time I do practice Chinese kung fu, calligraphy, language and music. And this year I got an opportunity to show off my talents," he said.
