Mouth-watering Indian snacks like the spicy chaat, masala dosas and chicken rolls are said to be increasingly becoming popular in Bangladesh where the taste for western fast food has been holding sway till now.
A number of trendy restaurants in metropolis Dhaka and other cities are now introducing the snacks in their menu in a bid to attract not only the local food buffs but international visitors as well, according to the 'Trends' magazine.
"No longer satisfied with hamburgers, hot dogs and fries, Bangladeshi eating out habits, never to be left behind, has also caught on to the trend.
"Indian items are fast replacing the European menu as the favoured grab-and-go food of choice, not just because of the taste but its healthier make-up, and has spread around the world," Mashhura Chowdhury wrote in the lifestyle weekly.
Popular restaurants like 'Dhaba' are now selling chaat items like bhel puri and the golgappa. It also has dahi papri, papri chaat, aloo chaat and aloo tikki. "These mouth-watering treats are all served up to you with a smile," she wrote.
Similarly, 'Chaat Street' sells Indian snacks like chana bhatura and Calcutta chaat. It also specialises in 16 types of dosa and uttapam, including the butter special masala dosa and butter capsicum masala dosa.

{{/usCountry}}And, at 'Roll Xpress' joint in downtown Banani, according to Chowdhury, one can get from chicken paneer rolls to papri chaat and raj kachori.
"The signatory dish is, well, rolls. In the Indian way of cooking, rolls are a bit different from what you may have in mind. These are made by wrapping juicy, tender delicacies made with eggs, mutton, chicken, vegetables, etc, in delicious round chapattis," she said.
