It isn’t a colour that has just been discovered, but Indigo seems to be a hit with trendsetters this season. At the Paris Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2010, Alexander McQueen had his models strutting in indigo blue dresses that were inspired by sea-reptiles. Actresses such as Sonam Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and Ameesha Patel, have been spotted in the hue at different events recently.

Denim brands are selling indigo too. Numero Uno’s Espania 2010 collection has shades of Indigo in the price range of Rs 1,799 and Rs 2099; 7 For all Mankind is selling Indigo blue skinny denims from Rs 8,196 onwards and s.Oliver’s Play Denim range is also stocking the colour.

Indigo is not really a day colour, unless you break it with white or brown or deep blue denim. “It’s a colour that’s better worn during evenings. And if it’s a single colour dress (indigo) then it should not be too embellished. The colour speaks for itself hence you don’t need accessories,” suggests designer Chandrani Siingh Fllora, adding, “My recent line was inspired by the sea, hence I have used Indigo draped dresses in jersey.”
