INDORE AND Jabalpur teams dominated the state Olympic Games that concluded today at Tatya Tope Stadium. Indore team stood first in kho-kho event of the both men and women’s category, men’s football and women basketball. Jabalpur team that has been brilliant in the meet stood first in the women’s handball, women’s volleyball, men’s kho-kho and hockey of both men and women’s section.
There was some disappointment for the Bhopal as the team claimed men’s handball and men’s basketball. MP Police stood first in the men’s kabaddi.
In the final of the men’s football Bhopal failed to repeat the performance. Playing against Indore, it was expected that Bhopal would register comfortable win. Losing the final by 0-2, Bhopal had to satisfy with the second position. Bhopal had defeated Jabalpur, the toughest team in the event, by 1-0 on Thursday.
Gwalior was the only other team that managed to register win in the final of the men’s volleyball. Addressing the gathering, director sports Sanjay Chaudhary announced that the sports department had selected names of the players from the meet for the camp to be organised from June 12.
The camp will be organised to train the selected players for the National games to be held in Guwahati in September. Chief guest of the closing ceremony, Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia awarded the winning teams with trophies and medals.
