Frequent and prolonged power cuts have been taking a heavy toll on industries in the city. Industrial production is dipping, leading to cancellation of orders, said industrialists.
Officials of state-run discoms said they can't do much about it as the power production has come down owing to technical snags at state's power plants.
The city is home to more than 100 IT companies, 200 garment firms and 12,500 other manufacturing units.
"I already have four cancelled orders this week because the production has gone for a toss due to shortage of power," said the owner of a garment firm.
According to him, the production has nearly halved.
"Till last week, I managed to produce 20 kilos of fabric but for the last four days, the production has reduced to just 10-11 kilos," he added.
While manufacturing giants can afford diesel generators, smaller units with thin margins of profit are the worst sufferers. "Garment and other small and medium industrial units are the worst hit," said Colonel (retd) Raj Singla, convener of the Gurgaon-Manesar Forum of the Haryana MSME Federation.

{{/usCountry}}"Even as the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has increased power tariff, it has simply failed to match up to our requirements," he said. Power tariff was hiked thrice in the last 18 months in Gurgaon. Subhash Deswal, superintending engineer, DHBVN, dismissed the charges.
"We can't do anything if the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (the power generation company) is not supplying adequate power."
The two power plants - Yamuna Nagar and Khedar - are producing only 1,700MW of electricity as against their capacity of 3,200 MW, added Deswal. The official said the breakdown of a turbine plate of 300MW Yamuna Nagar plant and the snag at the 800MW Kheddar plant were the major reason for the crisis.
