Parents of the 11-month-old boy lodged a complaint with Nampally police after the child went missing on Monday night from Niloufer hospital, they said.

The parents Sunitha and Venkat have alleged that their younger son Ajay was stolen by a burqa-clad woman who had befriended with them at the hospital, a senior police officer said.

The parents had come from Armoor town of Nizamabad district for treatment of their elder son who was admitted in the Niloufer hospital while they stayed elsewhere in the hospital premises along with the child (Ajay) and came in contact with the burqa-clad woman.

"They (parents) left the child with the burqa-clad woman for some time in the night while going inside the hospital and in the meanwhile she disappeared taking the child with her," the police officer said.

The CCTV cameras at the hospital have captured the footage of the burqa-clad woman while she was taking away the infant and efforts were underway to nab her, he added.
