Infection delays coma-stricken Sharon's surgery

An operation Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was to undergo on Tuesday was delayed due to an infection in his respiratory tract, the hospital said.

Sharon, 78, was to undergo surgery later on Tuesday to reattach a portion of his skull removed three months ago after he suffered a massive stroke.

"The surgery that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was to undergo today has been delayed due to a slight infection discovered this morning in his respiratory tract," Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital said in a statement.
