Tyagi, a cash collector from Ghaziabad Tehsil, died following police interrogations on Friday. His family members have alleged that Yogesh was brutally beaten up due to which he died.

“The injury marks on the body and a head injury indicate that he was severely beaten up during police interrogation which took place at Vijaynagar police station and not at Kavinagar police station,” Chetan Tyagi, a family member alleged alleged.

The post-mortem reports, as per the SSP, are inconclusive and indicated abrasions on the body. “The heart and viscera has been preserved. I will register an FIR against the culprits in case a complaint is received,” the SSP said.

SSP Kumar has also confirmed that interrogations were not conducted at Kavinagar police station as reported earlier. “Proper transparency will be maintained in the inquiry and those found guilty will be severely punished,” he said.

The police had picked up three persons — Vinod Tyagi (Yogesh Tyagi’s brother), Dimple Tyagi and Hemant Tyagi — for questioning in the murder case of a Congress leader. Following Saturday’s protest, the three men were released from custody.

All India Congress Committee member and Congress leader Pradeep Tyagi was killed in his house on Thursday. Three unidentified men were involved in his murder.

Meanwhile, Ghaziabad police is also planning to take Bhagmal Tyagi (another brother of Yogesh Tyagi) on a transit remand from Dasna Jail. Bhagmal is believed to have hatched a conspiracy along with two other inmates to kill Pradeep Tyagi.
