The on-going bitter battle between senior IPS officer Hemant Nagrale and his wife Pratibha turned ugly on Wednesday. Hemant is currently the chief vigilance officer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board.
Pratibha went to Hemant’s official residence in Colaba but he refused to allow her in.
She filed an application at the Colaba police station about the perceived threat from her estranged husband.
She has been staying with her relatives after she filed numerous against her husband alleging mental and physical harassment.
They have been married for 20 years.
Senior Inspector D.T. Vishwasrao confirmed that they have got the application. “Yes, we have the application but the contents are yet to be verified,” Vishwasrao said.
Pratibha’s lawyer, Gunratan Sadavarte, told Hindustan Times that around 1.30 pm Pratibha went to Hemant’s house after the Bombay High Court refused to pass any restraining order to that effect. Hemant was present at home when she tried to enter the house.
“Nagrale did not let her inside and threatened her. She then submitted an application at the Colaba police station,” Sadavarte said. Pratibha was made to sit on a porch outside the house, he added.

{{/usCountry}}Hemant refused comment. “The matter is sub-judice. It will not be proper for me to say anything,” said Nagrale. Earlier during the day, the Bombay High Court asked Hemant to file a reply on his wife’s petition seeking police protection.
Pratibha had filed the petition last week, stating that she perceived a threat from her policeman husband. The Bombay High Court also asked the state government to file its reply by February 17.
