"We welcome the landmark deal, which will open a new chapter in Tehran's relations with the world. It is a positive development that would bring in greater stability in the region," Sayeed said in a statement.

The historic deal follows 17 days of near uninterrupted negotiations in Vienna, Austria's capital, involving foreign ministers from seven countries - Iran, US, UK, Russia, China, France and Germany - and the European Union's foreign policy chief.

Mufti said the efforts of all those who contributed towards finding a reliable political and diplomatic solution to the conflict between Iran and the West were to be appreciated.

"This once again shows that dialogue is the only way forward in resolving differences and strengthening global and regional security," he said.
