The landslides were triggered by heavy rains in Rattan Pass and fresh landslides in Nachlana and Patnihal areas in Ramban-Banihal sector in Doda district, they said.

Over 400 vehicles are stranded along the highway, they said.

Personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) have been pressed into service to clear the highway, but heavy rains are making the task difficult, they said.

While Pir Panchal range experienced heavy snowfall along with the parts of upper reaches of Doda district, heavy rains were witnessed in Jammu region.
Snowfall was also experienced in Trikuta hills, where the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine is located, but the yatra is going on smoothly, they said.
