The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday night claimed Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist outfit was behind the series of grenade blasts in Srinagar, which left eight people, including tourists, dead.
Senior police officials said the person, who was handed over to the police by locals when he threw a grenade on a vehicle in the city, had said during interrogation that a man of Pakistani origin with a Pushto language accent had approached a group of five people in Sumbal area of north Kashmir for hurling a grenade.
The man, who is a residence of Sumbal, said the Pakistani man had identified himself as a terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the police claimed.
He also named some of the other accomplices besides informing the police that the Pakistani national was carrying more grenades, leading to speculation that more such attacks could be carried out.
