The problem of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is getting more attention from the Centre than that in the Northeastern region as it is closer to Delhi and Pakistan wanted to grab it using the religious line, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said on Saturday.

"We are closer to Delhi and being Muslims, Pakistan wants to grab us," he told a questioner in Shillong.

"But terrorism is terrorism, be it in Jammu and Kashmir or the Northeast," he said adding some disgruntled elements, mostly the educated and the unemployed want to destabilise the country.

Abdullah is in Shillong for the two-day All India Police Golf Tournament.
