Addressing a press conference in Vishakapatnam, about 600 km from here, before the launch of his odarpu, or consolation, yatra in the district, Jagan said his aim was to force the Centre to address the problems of farmers.

“I will bring the Centre to its knees. I will tell the nation what YSR would have done to farmers had he been alive,” said Jagan, the son of late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who was popularly known as YSR.

After a year of dissidence for not being allowed to replace his father, Jagan resigned as the Congress MP from Kadappa in November last year.

He was confident that MPs and MLAs, who had pledged their support to him, would join him in the fast to protest the tribunal's verdict over the sharing of waters between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The former MP lashed out at both the central and state governments for failing to provide relief to the farmers.
