Lakshmaiah was an important member of the government led by former CM YSR Reddy, Jaganmohan’s father, and was in charge of the irrigation department for more than five years.

CBI sources said the minister was quizzed on the various orders he issued as irrigation minister, particularly the priority allocation of the Krishna and Kagina river waters to some cement companies that had invested in Jaganmohan’s family-owned businesses.

“I respect the law and will cooperate with the investigating agency. I have not done anything wrong,” Krishnaiah said before the interrogation.
