The basis of new material has come to light following scientific tests conducted on Salem.

In an application to designated judge PV Bavkar, the Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai police said that Salem was recently subjected to narco-analysis and other tests and he had revealed certain "sensitive" information on the basis of which further investigations were required to be done.

In this regard, Salem's police custody was needed, the police application said.

The judge has deferred the matter till Tuesday for orders.

This is for the second time police is seeking Salem's police custody, the first being when he was arrested last month in this case.

At present, Salem is in judicial custody in Pradeep Jain murder case.

Jain was murdered in March 1995 allegedly by Salem's hitmen after he failed to pay the extortion amount. Later, Salem recovered the same from his family, police alleged.
