The National Conference staged a demonstration in Vijapur in Samba district against the new recruitment policy of the state government and submitted a memorandum to the governor demanding its early revocation.
"The NC will not allow such anti-youth policies to succeed. The party will fight against it till the policy is not withdrawn," said former minister Surjit Singh Salathia, addressing the protestors. The NC leader also submitted a memorandum demanding withdrawal of the new recruitment policy to the governor. The memorandum was handed over to deputy commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda.
The government has said under the new policy it will fill about 15,000 posts in the far-off places. The appointees will be given a consolidated amount of about Rs 10,000 during first seven-year of service.
The opposition parties, including the NC, the Congress and Panthers Party have been criticising the government over the policy. The governor has sent back the ordinance on this policy, passed by the cabinet, with certain queries. The government has said it will soon reply to the queries.
Salathia said the people are constrained to seek the attention of the governor, as the PDP-BJP coalition government is non-serious in addressing this problem.

{{/usCountry}}He said the government is by-passing democratic institutions and recruitment agencies like the Public Service Commission and State Subordinate Recruitment Board.
"It's a calculated move to undermine the constitutional role of these institutions, which is fraught with danger of encouraging corruption, nepotism and exploitation of unemployed educated youth," he said.
The memorandum has also sought governor's intervention in giving financial assistance to the farmers affected by the recent un-seasonal rains. It has demanded a financial compensation of Rs 3,000 per kanal.
