Volunteers of NYC staged the protest in front of Press Club, Jammu, and raised slogans against the government for its failure to meet their demands.

The volunteers led by its district president Sunil Chauhan urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to fulfill their demands for which they have been fighting for the last couple of years.
"We want the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter as future of 8,000 youth is at stake", said Chauhan.

He added, "The state government had done nothing concrete on the ground, besides issuing verbal assurances. Also, for the past seven months, we hadn't received our salary."

The NYC has been demanding regularisation of their service, enhancement in honorarium and continuation of their service in the departments where they are presently serving.
