"I am sure they will participate," Singh, who was expelled by BJP over his controversial book on Pakistan founder M A Jinnah, told reporters after the meeting.

He was asked why members from BJP and its allies did not attend the meeting. It was "for BJP to decide", he added.

He said 15 out of 22 members of the PAC attended the meeting. "We had a very good first meeting," Singh said.

BJP's Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, on Monday made a public request to Singh to step down as chairperson of the prestigious committee saying the post belonged to the party.
