JDS leaders alleged that the drug mafia, who also act as informers of the police, was active in more than half a dozen police station areas. When party’s city president Hamid Hussain informed the police about their activities, drug mafia Mohammed Aafak and Guddu Ghoda threatened to kill him. Hussain informed the police about the threats, but no action was taken against them.

Another party leader Baikundnath accused the police of extorting money from these mafias in lieu of providing protection to them.

The recent incident in Kidwai Nagar police station area, in which a constable was caught red handed while extorting money from these mafias, was an indicator of the relations between the two, he said.

He demanded that these informers cum drug mafias should be put behind bars and the police officials providing assistance to them should be suspended.
