Nine persons were feared drowned on Wednesday when a jeep fell into Sharda canal in Barabanki.

The incident happened when the jeep, with 14 passengers, coming from Dewan Sharif lost control on Barabanki-Lucknow highway under Dewa police circle and plunged into the canal, they said.

While five persons managed swim out, nine others were missing and feared drowned, they said adding that the rescue mission is on.
