Denying any knowledge of Osama bin Laden cadres in the state, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik on Monday said any Al-Qaeda operation in Kashmir would turn the entire world against the ongoing "freedom struggle" in Srinagar.
Addressing a press conference, Malik said, "The whole world will turn against the oppressed Kashmiri people if the Al-Qaeda outfit starts operating in Kashmir."
The JKLF chief also issued an appeal requesting the people here not to support the group. Asked whether he held the same views about Al-Qaeda operations outside Kashmir, Malik said, "I am talking only in the context of Kashmir."
"We must keep our principles fully intact and wed those with the right actions, not driven by emotions, but by logic and rationality."
Malik also announced a programme against rights violations in Kashmir. It would begin with a day-long hunger strike on September 7 followed by peaceful protests in all the major cities and towns of the valley on September 9.
"We will offer arrests to attract the attention of the Indian prime minister to his promise of zero tolerance to human rights violations in Kashmir," he said.

{{/usCountry}}Malik, who started his movement against the presence of the Indian forces in Kashmir in 1989 as an underground guerrilla commander, shunned violence in 1994 and since then his JKLF has been waging a non-violent movement.
