Of more than one dozen JMA constituents, three of them- Dr Udit Raj (Indian Justice Party), Om Prakash Rajbhar (Bharatiya Samaj Party) and Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan (Loktantrik Janashakti Party), have decided to make simultaneous attack on Mayawati to widen their base among Dalits.

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, Dr Udit Raj assailed Mayawati of doing nothing for the welfare of the scheduled castes in the State. He said JMA’s May 30 rally had not only shaken the SP but it had also caused consternation in the BSP. Even before joining JMA, Dr Raj had long been carrying on campaign against Mayawati in the State. However, he could never translate his efforts into electoral victory.

Dr Raj now hoped that under the banner of JMA his party would be able to wean away some Dalit votes from BSP. While accusing Mayawati of resorting to “votes and notes” politics, Dr Raj said party cadre had always been badly treated under BSP’s regime in the State.

Flaying Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Dr Raj said during the last two years Dalits had been worst affected. He said Centre’s rural employment scheme was yet to be launched in 22 districts. Dr Raj said his party, along with other constituents of JMA, would hold a rally in Varanasi on June 15 against the SP and the BSP.

He said VP Singh had emerged as a rallying point in the State politics and JMA would give new direction to the State.
