John Abraham has reportedly been finalised for Vipul Shah’s Hindi remake of the Surya-Jyothika’s Tamil superhit film, Kaakha Kaakha.

However, the original director, Gautham Menon, has opted out and Nishikant Kamath, who made the much-acclaimed Marathi film, Dombivili Fast and Mumbai Meri Jaan, will call the shots on the John-Asin starrer.

While Abraham was unavailable for comment, his friend confirmed the news saying, “Yes, John has given his nod to the project but the paperwork needs to be completed. Vipul and Nishikant are planning to start the film in May. John has already started preparing for the role of a cop who is a part of the special squad battling organised crime.”

The film will have plenty of hardcore action and the actor needs to “bulk” up to play the character of a cop who can crush people who push him too far.

Genelia D’Souza was first choice for the female lead but since she’s already teaming up with Abraham for Hook Ya Crook, Shah opted for Asin, his London Dreams heroine.
