Much awaited 'Josephest-2006' began at St Joseph's College on Tuesday. Inspired by the teamwork and driven by the urge to win, the students from six schools participated in this annual gala event.
The students of Jagat Taran Inter College, St Anthony's College, St Mary's Convent Inter College, YMCA, Tagore Public School and St Joseph's College showed tremendous spirit in winning the multiple competitions.
This two-day lively event was inaugurated by Himanshu Kumar, vice chairman, ADA, and also an ex-Josephite.
The captains of the participatory schools gave their introduction in the beginning before the audience.
The on-stage event was studded with the competitions such as music mania, debate, flip flop, elocution and street plays. Melos or the music mania was the enjoyable musical event in which the students showcased their singing talent and the theme for the song was "No days like school days". SJC stood first in the event while the team from St Anthony's College grabbed the second position with Tagore Public School coming third.
The next in the row was Disputo or English debate which was organised under two sections of prepared and unprepared. The topic for prepared debate was 'Indian nationals are justified to work in foreign multi-nationals' and the topic for the unprepared debate was 'Unity in diversity is a fallacy'. Dhawal Kirti from SJC was chosen as the best speaker against the motion while M Ansari from YMCA school was adjudged as the best speaker for the motion.

{{/usCountry}}Elocution and street plays were held in which the students left no stone unturned to prove their mettle. Off-stage events included creative writing in English and Hindi, collage making competition and Ars bene Literarum or spell well.
On Wednesday, there will be events such as quiz, qawwali, group dance, painting, cartooning etc.
